Here at Oakgrove School we work in partnership with a number of local Initial Teacher Training providers in order to deliver a variety of effective training routes to suit the needs to each individual trainee teacher. Our aim is to help to nurture and develop the future teachers across Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. In this section there is an outline of each provider we work with and the courses they offer.

School Direct

Tommy Flowers SCITT

The Tommy Flowers SCITT offers Initial Teacher Training for Primary and Secondary trainees. The course includes QTS and PCGE. Oakgrove School work as a host school for the Tommy Flowers SCITT and provide school centred training with a dedicated mentor for each ITT and a professional tutor who oversees the entire course. Trainees with have two contrasting school placements and may be placed at Oakgrove as either their main placement or their second placement. In addition to this, Oakgrove School host several of the subject specialist sessions and enrichment opportunities for the Tommy Flowers SCITT. For further details on the courses offered see:

The Pilgrim Partnership

The Pilgrim Partnership offers School Direct Initial Teacher Training for Primary and Secondary trainees in and around Bedfordshire. In addition to this, we work closely with the Pilgrim Partnership and their Assessment Only Route programme which sees unqualified teachers with two years teaching experience gain QTS during a twelve week process. The University of Bedfordshire offers a variety of routes into teaching. Here at Oakgrove we are a host school for Secondary trainees with a particular focus on Music and Art trainees on the QTS/PGCE route. We welcome future ITT applicants to our all through school and we offer a variety of bespoke placement opportunities throughout the academic year. Placements vary in length depending on each individual’s requirements. During these placements you will have an opportunity to meet with the ITT Co-ordinator at Oakgrove School to discuss the best route into teaching you for; to observe a variety of experienced teachers throughout the school day and a wealth of other school based experiences to give you an insight into your future profession.
