I have a passion for phonics and the early development of reading and writing and have spent time implementing a robust phonics programme within my school. As part of this and my previous roles I have had experience of training, mentoring and observing staff on all different levels.

I have taught Letters and Sounds and The Read Write Inc phonics programmes across both Foundation and Key Stage One. I have previously worked with Key Stage 2 staff to implement interventions to support those children who need further phonics support and I have developed assessment systems which track children and lead to the fluid groupings of phonics within our school.

I have experience of carrying out regular assessment of the Year One Phonics screening check and have developed tracking systems and interventions to ensure high pass rates. I have worked on the development of reading and implemented daily reading into to our phonics sessions, giving children more chance to make links with phonics and widening opportunities for reading.

Iregularly monitor writing progress across Foundation and Key Stage One and look for ways of developing early writing through ensuring writing is accessible to all in the Early Years. Previous to my phonics role I have been Foundation and Key Stage One leader and have a vast knowledge of the curriculum across both areas. I have worked with other schools as part of my Literacy co-ordinator role developing staff on different levels and providing training on improving writing.
