National or Specialist Leader of Education (NLE/SLE) Support - Typically, NLEs will work with the Headteacher or Principal and SLEs will work with middle and/or senior leaders to undertake the following:

  • Carry out diagnostic visits.
  • Develop action plans, identifying key priorities and SMART targets.
  • Provide one-to-one or group support.
  • Offer coaching and mentoring support.
  • Provide access to resources and training.

The ultimate aim of NLEs and SLEs will always be to contribute significantly to improving the outcomes for children through developing the capacity of leaders in other schools.

National Leaders of Education

As defined by the Department for Education; National leaders of education (NLEs) are strong school leaders, who have experience of effectively supporting schools in challenging circumstances. NLEs work alongside teaching schools and other system leaders to provide high quality support to those who need it most.

An NLE will be an outstanding headteacher, who, alongside their staff at a designated National Support School (NSS), use their skills and experience to support schools which are often facing very challenging circumstances.

In addition to leading their own schools, NLEs work to increase the leadership capacity of other schools to help raise standards.

At Innovate TSP we have two outstanding National Leaders for Education.
